Board Member: Nuzhat Sultan 

Nuzhat Sultan was the Executive Director of Washington Art Associates. She co-founded the company to implement educational art and architecture tours for museum membership programs. After 29 years and an impressive museum client list Nuzhat closed WAA to pursue other interests.

While working at Washington Art Associates, she was active in the Washington art community. She was the Exhibitions Chair of the Arts Club of Washington for 7 years and created an art lecture series for the ACW. She served on The Corcoran Gallery of Art Collections Committee for three years and chaired a benefit.  She was on the board of Pyramid Atlantic for 10 years.  Nuzhat was also on the Board of Art Table and in addition, she co-chaired the Washington DC Program Committee of Art Table.

She joined the Woman’s National Democratic Club in 2011. She is the Director of the Arts and Museum Affairs Committee at the WNDC. As Director of AMA her role is the care and maintenance of the permanent art collection of the WNDC’s historic Whittemore House. Nuzhat also curates 4 exhibitions annually of local artists in the Wolf Ballroom. She also started a docent program and has had given tours of the club to residents of senior living communities and other groups. Income from house tours and sales of art work contribute to help the everyday expenses of t the WNDC

Nuzhat has lived in Washington DC since 1972. Her father’s diplomatic career enabled her to live in France, Turkey, China, Pakistan, Canada, Egypt, Italy and the United Kingdom.  She speaks French and Urdu.
