Leah Claiborne Plays Works by Florence Price

Join the National Women’s Foundation for an evening of music celebrating the extraordinary legacy of Florence Price, one of the most important Black composers in American history. As part of the Whittemore Concert Series, internationally known pianist and scholar Dr. Leah Claiborne will bring Price’s remarkable works to life in the intimate and historic setting of the Whittemore House.

Dr. Claiborne is an internationally recognized pianist and an authority on Black composers. Through her performance and scholarship, she shines a light on the contributions of Black composers to the classical music tradition and brings their music to new audiences. This special concert will feature works by Florence Price, the first Black woman to have a symphony performed by a major U.S. orchestra. Price ultimately composed more than 300 works, leaving an enduring legacy in American classical music.

The evening will take place in the elegant Whittemore House Salon and will include a glass of champagne and appetizers. Come experience an intimate evening of extraordinary music while celebrating the life and legacy of Florence Price.

Thursday, October 8, 2026. Concert begins at 6:30 pm and concludes at 8:30 pm. Admission is $55 and includes a glass of champagne and appetizers.
